Funding and Rebates

At Perfect Your Speech, we aim to make speech therapy as accessible as possible for families across our Blacktown and Tallawong clinics. There are several funding and rebate options available depending on your circumstances.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

At Perfect Your Speech, we support both self‑managed and plan‑managed NDIS participants, offering personalised speech therapy services for children and teens in Blacktown, Tallawong, Western Sydney, and surrounding areas. We also provide telehealth speech therapy to families across Australia.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government‑funded programme that assists individuals under 65 with a disability or long‑term condition. Through the NDIS, eligible participants can access funding for supports that improve communication, independence, social skills, and overall quality of life.

If you'd like to understand your child's eligibility or how speech therapy can be funded under the NDIS, you're welcome to visit the official NDIS website or contact our friendly team. We're here to guide you through the process and help your child access the support they need.

Medicare

Your child may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan (previously known as an EPC), which is arranged through your GP. This plan provides access to up to 5 Medicare rebates per calendar year for allied health services, including speech therapy. We recommend speaking with your GP to determine whether your child is eligible.

When can Medicare rebates be used?

Medicare rebates can generally be claimed for therapy sessions only (not assessment appointments) and can be used once a valid GP referral has been provided. Some families choose to use their Medicare rebates before accessing private health insurance, as the rebate amount is often higher. However, this will depend on your individual level of cover, so we recommend confirming this with your health fund.

Please note that CDM plans are allocated per calendar year and can be renewed annually through your GP.

How to claim your rebate.

After your session and payment have been completed, Perfect Your Speech will provide you with an invoice containing all the required details for your Medicare claim. You can then submit your claim directly through Medicare using your online account or mobile app.

Private Health Insurance

Rebates for speech pathology services may be available through your private health insurance, depending on your provider and level of cover. We recommend checking directly with your health fund prior to commencing therapy so you understand your entitlements.

In line with guidance from Speech Pathology Australia, you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate for the same session. This also applies to NDIS funding—private health rebates cannot be used for sessions claimed under the NDIS.

The person responsible for payment (typically a parent or carer) will need to choose which rebate option to use. Please inform your therapist prior to or during your appointment so we can ensure your invoice is prepared correctly.

If your health fund requires specific information on your invoice, our team is happy to assist.
